Library - Hiba Academy Shanghai

Hiba Library, opened in 2018, boasts a collection of over 40,000 print resources in English and Chinese. Hiba Library offers pupils, educators and visitor access to this growing collection of print materials, current magazines and newspapers and a large collection of digital resources including comprehensive databases, e-book and audiobook options. The library team strives to meet the educational needs and interests of the children and educators, and is committed to keeping the collection current and relevant.

We have five full-time librarians (one native English speaker and four native Chinese speakers) whose role is to support the staff and pupils. The librarians assist children with book selection based on their interests and provide instruction in locating and using information effectively.

Hiba Academy Shanghai features three libraries: a Primary library with a collection for our younger children that promotes a love of learning and reading, a Junior High as well as a High School library with comfortable seating areas and group study rooms that provide our older children with a space to collaborate with their teachers or peers. All spaces serve as welcoming, comfortable and quiet places for reading, studying and working.

The Primary and Junior High libraries are open between 07:45-16:30 during school days. The High School library is open from 7:15-16:30. Pupils are allowed to check out up to six books for two weeks at a time.
