HATS Programme

While expectations at Hiba are extremely high and we expect all pupils to achieve the top grades and progress to top universities, we also recognise that some of our pupils require additional provision to stretch and challenge them.
These pupils are identified as they reach the end of junior high school and additional support is provided in the form of mentoring and coaching, visits and contact with top universities, guidance on specific CCA activities that will support their aspirations and other activities that will suit their interests.
The selection criteria for the HATs Program are based on pupils' academic performance and overall engagement throughout secondary school, with additional consideration given to standardized test results.

Scholarships
Currently, Hiba Academy Shanghai has two scholarship programmes: the Shuping scholarship and the Hiba scholarship.
The Shuping scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship offered at Wellington College China. It is targeted at outstanding pupils in grade 8 and above, who are from Chinese working class families. The scholarship includes a financial award of up to 110% of the annual tuition fee.

The Hiba scholarship recognises outstanding academic, sports or arts achievement and all-round excellence. Hiba Scholars have a consistent and proven track record of excellent academic, sports or arts performance, demonstrate leadership potential, show unfailing kindness to their peers and have an exemplary behavioural record as well as acting as mentors and role models. It is targeted at pupils who enter grade 9 and above and includes financial awards of up to 50% of the annual tuition fee.
Scholarship recipients are recognised by the school and may include this distinction in their university applications. Our recommendation letters will highlight this achievement. Many leading universities value scholarship awards, making this recognition a strong asset for future academic and career opportunities.

Talented Athlete Support Scheme

At Hiba, we encourage all pupils to participate in sports and discover their passion while we are also committed to nurturing the champions of tomorrow. Our Talented Athlete Support Scheme (HTASS) is a gateway to elite performance, offering unparalleled support and development both on and off the field.
We provide comprehensive on-field and off-field support for young athletes including elite sports pathways, mentorship programmes, strength and conditioning sessions, fitness testing, networking with industry leaders and more. Our aim is to provide the best possible level of personalised support to the whole pupils/athletes so that they are able to achieve beyond their own expectation on and off the sports ground whilst gaining valuable life experiences and skills that will ensure that sport stays part of their life for the years to come.

Supporting Young Artists

At Hiba, we don't just train artists—we cultivate visionaries. We offer opportunities to empower young musicians, singers, dancers, actors, and visual artists, and ensure that passion for the arts remains a lifelong journey, equipping creators with the skills, confidence, and opportunities to shine on and off the stage. 

Our support for pupils is part of daily life, with opportunities such as Hiba Earlybird, lunchtime arts sessions, extended CCAs and masterclasses. Pupils can also explore art in greater depth through academic programmes. We see art as more than just a subject. It is a way to build confidence and focus. It develops aesthetics and soft skills teamwork and creative expression. Along the way, pupils grow into well-rounded individuals.
