The Higher Education and Careers Department at Hiba Academy Shanghai is dedicated to supporting pupils in their journey towards successful higher education and fulfilling careers. We believe in nurturing well-rounded individuals who are prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

We aim to provide comprehensive support to pupils throughout their higher education exploration, application, and decision-making process. Our dedicated team of experienced professionals work closely with pupils, parents, and educators to ensure that each individual's unique strengths and goals are identified and maximised.

Hiba's Higher Education and Careers programme helps pupils explore future opportunities and make choices during key transitions in Grade 8, 10, and 12. The curriculum is delivered during wellbeing lessons and prep time, focusing on skills and interest exploration, research into possible careers and universities. The team provides 1-2-1 sessions, workshops, and lessons to assist with subject choices for IGCSE, IBDP, and university. The programme features industry and university speakers, as well as field trips to various companies.

Hiba has a unique "Five Year Roadmap" career programme that prepares pupils for the HE application process, and is founded on the holistic values of the school. The school has a well-planned university application timeline that provides pupils with structured guidance and support throughout the process. Starting in their early secondary years, pupils are introduced to university exploration and self-reflection, and as they progress through the timeline, they are given assistance with creating a balanced list of potential universities, preparing for standardised tests, and writing personal statements. Regular check-ins and meetings with university counsellors are included to track progress, address concerns, and provide individualised advice. By implementing this comprehensive timeline, Hiba Academy Shanghai empowers its pupils with the necessary skills to navigate the university application process and make informed decisions about their future education.

Hiba Academy Shanghai has an academic scholarship programme open to current and new High School pupils which recognises outstanding academic achievement and all-round excellence.

Hiba Scholars will:

· demonstrate leadership in their area of excellence, contribute to school life, and have a positive impact on the Hiba community

Successful applicants are recognised and celebrated by the school and they have access to a range of opportunities befitting the prestige of the scholarship they have been awarded. Recipients of scholarships are looked upon very favourably by universities around the world and pupils who are awarded scholarships are able to include this on their university applications in the future; it will also be mentioned in recommendation letters written by the school.

Financial awards of up to 50% of the annual tuition fees are available to pupils whose families can demonstrate that they would not be able to afford the full fees and such awards are based upon the family's annual net income.

Pupils are invited to apply in February each year and rigorous selection criteria are applied.
